When being 'too much' changes the world

Apr 10, 2025

How many times have you held back, lowered your voice, dressed more simply, downplayed your successes… just so the people around you wouldn’t feel less than?

We still carry that ancient code within us. An instinct that says: “Don’t stand out…Don’t separate from the group…Stay in the herd…”

Because once, it was dangerous to break away - and in the animal world, it still is.

The deer that lags behind or the one that runs ahead - both are the first to be caught.

Our brain still works in that same pattern...

Even though we’re safely tucked into the 21st century (scrolling through social media instead of running from wolves) we’re still haunted by the fear of rejection, of being ‘not enough’ or ‘too much’…

But the truth is - the world begins to change when someone dares to be the FIRST to be “too much” - and boldly shows what’s possible.

Think about this:

For years, it was believed that running a mile in under 4 minutes was physically impossible. They thought it was dangerous - even deadly.

Until Roger Bannister did it in 1954. And what happened next? Within a few months, several other runners did the same. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Their bodies hadn’t changed - but their consciousness had.

The same happened with Mount Everest.

People believed the human body couldn’t survive at that altitude… Until Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay said: Maybe collective belief can’t – but I can.

And since then, thousands have followed in their footsteps.

The collective consciousness knows limits - until someone breaks through. You don’t have to be that person for the whole world, but you can be it for your family, your friends and for your community…

Why? Because the world won’t become a better place by all of us turning into faceless, empty copies of one another… But by finding the courage to explore what we’re truly capable of, and striving to be authentically ourselves.

So next time you feel the urge to respond to a compliment with “oh, it’s nothing” or downplay your joy and success just so others don’t feel threatened…remember: no one wins when you shrink.

Your light might blind others.

But it also reminds them of everything that’s possible... 💖
